Title : Sports Meet

The Annual Sports Meet for the academic year 2010-11 was held on the 12th of January at the ICF Stadium. Shri. Rajalal Nichani, Hon. Gen. Secretary of the Sindhi Educational Society, declared the Sports Meet open. Boys and girls in the sub-junior, junior, inters and senior categories participated in various track events such as 100 m dash, 200 m dash and 400 m relay.

Ms. S. Lakshmi, I.P.S., Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kilpauk, Chennai city, presided over the function in the late afternoon, gave away prizes to the emerging sportspersons and declared the Sports Meet closed. The spirit of sportsmanship in Sindhi Modelians was much appreciated and cherished.

Title : Annual Day Celebrations

Sindhi Modelians celebrated their 35th Annual Day on the 24th of July at the school premises. Ms. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi presided over the function and honoured meritorious students. Graceful dance and melodious music performances captivated the audience.

Title : UN Day Celebrations

UN Day was celebrated on the 24th of October in the school premises. UN mock sessions were conducted by the students under the guidance of the teachers in an effort to emulate the UN General Assembly.

Title : Lecture on Head Injuries

Experienced physician Dr. Abdul Khadar delivered a lecture on the implications of Head Injuries and responding to such emergencies.   He advised  parents not to gift their children with scooties and bikes so as to save fuel and reduce the scope for accidents leading to head injuries. 
The audience were spell bound listening to his informative lecture interspersed with thought provoking, hilarious anecdotes.

Title : Lecture on Storkes

'World Stroke Day' was observed on 29th, October at our school premises.  As part of the awareness creating programme , the school organised a lecture cum Medical Check up.  Students from Class IX onwards attended the lecture delivered by eminent doctor Shri Arjun Das.  He alerted the audience on the alarmingly rising rate of Strokes in India and world across. He  further attributed stress filled life style as the major cause.  He educated the audience on the first aid that needs to be administered for patients attacked by strokes.

A free Medical Check up was also organised for the Staff members.

 

Title : Diwali At Balvihar

It was a Diwali with a difference here in Sindhi Model! The spirit of rejoicing in making others happy was demonstrated by Sindhi Modelians  this October. The Senior students still treasure the day they spent at  Balvihar, a special school for the mentally challenged children at  Kilpauk. "Spending a day with them, gave  me a  different experience, my heart goes for them" said  Shruthi, a class XII student.  The members of our Social Service League distirbuted sweets to the inmates.

Title : Lecture by Dr Kishore Kumar

Exams tend to bring in  stress and the so-called ‘exam-fear’. Dr. Kishore Kumar , Senior Principal, St. John''s International School, addressed our students in the month of February, 2010. Dr. Kishore Kumar, an eloquent speaker, struck the right chords with the audience.  He urged the students to shed their fears and anxiety, advised them to stay collected and prepare well for the forthcoming exams.

Title : English Debate

Debates are conducted to bring out the oratorical skills in our students.  This is used as a platform to quell phobia of any kind faced by students. Students are encouraged to articulate their thoughts in a  structured manner taking care to be informative and  humorous.

Title : First Aid

The initial treatment given to an injured prior to hospitalization is something that everyone should be educated upon. St. Johns Ambulance Association teaches Sindhi Modelians to react in case of emergencies. The session includes tips and methods to handle fractures, head injuries, giddiness, snake bites, etc.

Title : Robotics Workshop

Robots have always captivated our imagination and have been an inspiration for many a novel and movie. Robotics has made great strides in recent times and in order to give students a peek into this happening world, robotists from The Robotix Labs conducted hands-on workshops. They put on display their Robo-soccer team, a sewage cleaning bot and many more. They also showed videos of iconic robots such as the BigDog.

Title : Lecture on Communication and Networks

Prof. Shankar Balachandran, Assistant Professor, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, gave an intriguing seminar on computer networks and communications. Not only did the students benefit from it but were also fascinated by the comparison he made between computer networking and the ancient and modern ways of human communication.

Title : Kids Carnival

The Management of Sindhi Model never fails to give students a joyful learning experience. The Kids Carnival is yet another step in this direction. The Kids Carnival 2010  entertained and amused students in several ways: there were merry-go-round rides, bubble castle, horse rides, chocolate cakes, cotton candies and much more! Not only this, films like "Garfield", "The Stuart Little", etc. were screened at the Auditorium.

Title : Nursery Activities

 The Nursery Department has celebrated  Halloween''s Day, Animals Day, Family and School Day,  Flowers Day and the like and culminated in "Safe strings" - puppet show.

 

Title : Flower Day

The nursery department celebrated ''Flower Day'' on 18th August 2011.  Children done the role of flowers, explained the salient features of each flower, with emphasis on its utility value. The exhibits had a n array of varieties ranging from Tulasi to the exotic orchids. 


Title : Ganesh Chaturthi

India is blessed with a rich cutlural heritage and moral values.  It is vibrant and colourful with a festive mood throughout the year.  'Ganesh Chaturthi' is a very important festival that connects people all over the country.  'Ganesh Chaturthi' is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiam in our school premises.  The defty hands of our Arts Department, rolled out an indigenious Ganesha idol made out of clay for the celebrations.

Title : Library Week Celebrations

Sindhi Modelians eagerly look forward to celebrate the "Library Week". The week long celebration has a galore of competitions and activities. Favourite characters are brought to life, fairy tales are enacted, great moments of history are revisited. The walls are filled with catchy taglines and posters. In fact every nook and corner of the school turns out be an informative hub.

Title : Maths Project Display

"Maths Made Easy" was the theme of our Maths Project. Projects dealing with using graphs to measure volume, area etc of irregular shapes were on display. The vedic maths display lured maximum visitors and was rated among the most interesting ones.

Title : Pet Animals Show

The Pet Animals show aims to kindle in kids, love for animals and give them a chance to play with and cuddle their favourite pets.

Title : Quiz for Primary Students

The art of quizzing was brought to the fore in the series of quizzes conducted through the year. The quiz conducted by the Primary Dept was a huge success with teams fighting out a nail-biting finish and the audience competing with the participants in giving answers.

Title : Workshop On CCE for the faculty of Science

Workshop On CCE for the Science faculty  was conducted in the month of July at our school premises.

It is customary to begin the new academic year with a Pooja to invoke the blessings of the Almighty.

Title : Tamil Project Day

The Tamil Project Day is conducted to display the rich literature of the Tamil Language which is among the oldest surviving languages in the world.

Title : Project by the CSC Department

"Touch The Future" Project presented by class X, Computer Science Department. The gradual migration of the  Tech World  from wired to wireless media was well projected . We wish to congratulate class - X for the "Quality Presentations" supported by informative and humorous  posters. On the whole, the labs turned out to be "Wireless -  Info Hubs". Kudos to the excellent team work of the Computer Science Department.

Title : Vijayadashami Celebrations

First lessons on Vijayadashami are believed to make a great impact on one’s education. Celebrating Vijayadashami at ‘our temple’ in the school campus brings us great joy.

Title : Art Exhibition

'Art Expo 2010' - our annual event is conducted to showcase the artistic skills of our students. The strokes and colours brought life to the canvas.  The displays protrayed the professionalism and the intutive traits of our artists.

Title : Annual Medical Check Up

Staying healthy is very important. Medical check-ups are organised every year. Parents are advised to take corrective steps if required.

Title : Ovation

Classroom learning is not at all enough for the present. Ovation ’11 was a step to compensate for the future. Tagged “The Right Platform for the Right Talent”, Ovation really is the apt platform to showcase co-curricular skills. “ These kind of cultural events gave me the most needed ‘confidence’ for my acting career”, said Kollywood and Mollywood Actor Mr. Narain, who presided over Ovation ''11 this year.

Title : Intra School Quiz

For the first time in Sindhi Model, a work experience project was put to practical use. An HTML-Java based Quiz software was developed by a student to conduct the quiz and maintain scores, time etc. This year''s intra-school quiz was a major success with several teams participating and the final 4 fighting it out till the last question setting up one of the most memorable finishes in the last few years. One of the most notable features of the quiz was the enthusiasm shown by audience and their eagerness in answering questions thrown at them. Shankar of Class X-B has developed the software, while Arun Vignesh, Hitesh contributed Quizzing material.  Lakshmi M, Siddarth Fulfagar, Sahil B and Doraditya adorned the role of Quiz Masters.

Description : Shri Abdul Raheem, Principal In-charge has presided the function.  Appreciated the proceedings of the programme, with a special mention of Harshini - who has read out the Annual Report of Scouts and Guides.  He lauded the efforts taken by the students and teachers, for the various activities that are being executed.  He appreciated the efforts of the members of the Garden Club, who are the receipients of the "Gobar Green Schools Award'' at the National Level. Ms. Usha Shankar , First Co-ordinator also addressed the gathering.  Students donated plants to mark the start of activities for this academic year.

Description : Shri Nandalal Pokardas, Chariman welcomed the Chief Guest, and the gathering.  Advised students to strive for perfection and perform well.  Dr. Kishore Kumar in a nut shell conveyed the message that students should have defined goals and work towards it.  He also emphasised that "scoring centums is not everything in life, sustaining the momentum to work hard and to do things with conviction" is the required quality in students.  Shri Dhanesh Kumar N. Chabria, Secretary proposed Vote of Thanks, and also took the oppurtunity to share his success factor in life.  He reinforced on the importance of "Setting Goals in Life" as it gives direction for our work.  Shri Abdul Raheem, Principal-In-Charge thanked Dr. Kishore Kumar for the right and apt fielding of the questions posed by our students and faculty.
