Garden Club |

Clean air, clean water, unadulterated food and adequately ventilated homes are the rarest of rare commodities available to the modern man, who is caught in a myriad of technological and medical gadgets promising to improve his ‘LIFE STYLE’. We fail to understand that these rare commodities are the essential ingredients for a healthy living. Garden club aims at driving home the message “Plant a tree today and reap the benefits for a lifetime”. We encourage children to maintain the rich canopy that prevails in our school campus. Children are advised to gift plants on their birthdays, to generate manure in the campus using vermi-compost pits, to use bio-degradable products instead of plastics and many more. Activities are conducted to create awareness about the judicial use of water and energy, reuse of paper and the like.

SCIENCE CLUB |
Technology has permeated into all walks of life, and classrooms are no exception. The scenario in class rooms seems to be unchanged though as “Students remain passive learners”. The Smart classrooms have failed to live up to their promise of improving student participation by interactive learning. “Learning by doing” seems to be a remote forgotten concept. Students are not able to relate to the science that exists within and around them. We take it for granted that pappads expand when fried in oil, tops spin the way they do, pickles need no refrigeration for storage, Thanjavur dolls dance their way, and many more. We fail to see the simple science involved in these. In order to facilitate learning with observation and reasoning, science clubs at Sindhi Model function with a difference. Activities are conducted with the prime motive of helping children realize the simple yet intricate scientific principles that are at work around them throughout their lives.

SOCIAL SERVICE LEAGUE |
In today’s world, children are immersed in cosmetic and material pleasures while social binding has taken a back-seat. With the surge of nuclear families, children seldom get a chance to mingle with people of different ages and habits. ‘Empathise’ is just another word that children use with no sense of compassion. In order to instill respect for elders and extend a helping hand to the less privileged people of our society, members of this club are taken to Orphanages, Homes for Elders, Spastic Society etc., to get an insight of the difficulties that the inmates face. Fund Raisers are conducted on campus and the proceedings are donated to these institutes.

ROAD SAFETY PATROL |
Road Safety is a serious public health concern. Regulating traffic has become a challenge, as one encounters users with less or no civic sense. We often violate traffic rules, ending up in accidents with heavy personal loss. The morning traffic scenes in and around our school are no different, where pedestrians try to wriggle their way through the thick matte of vehicles, two wheelers whisk their way past stranded four wheelers that cause the traffic congestion. Our students do a commendable job by regulating the traffic near our school, ensuring safe entry paths. Among the various activities conducted by RSP, the most important one is the training that is imparted to students by professionals in regulating traffic. In addition to regulating traffic, cadets play an important role in the neighbourhood by cleaning parks and other public places.

LITERARY ASSOCIATION |

Reading is a continuous process of learning that facilitates self education. The Great thinkers were great readers too and drew inspiration from the works that they read about. A good reader attains the ability to make good inferences and develops critical thinking. They are able to pen their thoughts and understanding with clarity. Reading is considered a lost art and in order to foster the habits of reading and writing, the Literary Association conducts debates, creative writing competitions, drama and also publishes newsletters and magazines on a regular basis. Students look forward to events like ‘Spell Bee’ and ‘Figure It Out’ that provide them an opportunity to learn a host of new words with ease.
