Going Vernacular
Teaching Physics in regional language - Tamil
IIT Shaastra offered students an excellent opportunity to put their teaching skills to test. What you may not know is that, it was a ‘noble cause’ which drove this event “Going Vernacular”.
The event, which was conducted in September 2010, demanded a video which was to be a teaching material for practical Science for students in rural India. So, the videos were to be shot in ‘vernacular’ languages, i.e. any of the regional languages like Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, etc.
S. ArunVignesh, M. Lakshmi, N. Doraditya, V. S. Parasaran – students from class XI shot a video on the topic “Time Period” in Tamil. With pendulums, balls and other simple apparatuses, students portrayed the given topic using easy-to-understand, simple experiments and also exhibited amazing teaching skills.
These events do contribute not just to the development of the student himself, but the society as such Sindhi Modelians always welcome new ventures with shining bright smiles and astoundingly high confidence. This was just another event to prove the fact!
